This statue is kneeling, palms pressed together, holding lotus in hands, with eyes open. Teppanom are a mythological angel and part of the Buddhist tradition in Thailand.

They first came to earth when Buddha reached enlightenment, and they became Buddha's protector, and guardian of religious temples. Teppanom are seen as protectors of the house and land of the owner.
